The Board of Directors of the Canadian Slovak League met at its annual meeting in Toronto where officials presented their reports and then discussed changes to ensure the future of the organization and also increase the attractiveness of The Canadian Slovak newspaper. Maria Dinga reported that 42 new members, primarily young joined the CSL in 2017. Klara Hrdlicka presented financial reports for the CSL and its subsidiary Slovak Canadian Publishing Company Inc. which publishes the newspaper The Canadian Slovak. CSL President M. Mark Stolarik stressed that without the Canadian Slovak League and its newspaper, our Slovak community in Canada would lose visibility. The discussion included suggestions by guests from the CSL Branches in Toronto, St. Catharines, Ottawa and Welland. The leadership will prepare 34th Convention to be held next year in Toronto.
